6 rules for success

By Mary Roberts

People who reach their goals do so because they are purposeful about reaching them. They don’t just casually say what they are going to do. They plan to succeed and they do.

If you are tired of wishing and hoping for weight loss, or you want to get off meds, or you want to FEEL better, you can’t just halfway commit. If you commit halfway you will get halfway results. Whatever your goals are, if you want to reach them you need to follow the rules of success and you need to have some level of obsession with your goals.

  1. Take Action
  2. Like Nike says, “Just Do it!” People who are successful don’t just sit around and think about what they want to do. They act with a purpose. They make decisions and do things that move them toward their goals. Keto is no different. If you want to be successful in keto, you have to act by removing the foods that hurt you, and preparing yourself for the eventual choices that you will have to make. Write stuff down. Plan weekly menus. Anticipate difficult situations and develop contingencies. Don’t be in the passenger seat, get in the driver’s seat and direct your life the way you want it to go.

  3. Surround Yourself with Like Minded People
  4. Goal achievers hang with other goal achievers. They lift each other up, they push each other, they inspire each other. If the people you hang with say things like, “One cheat won’t hurt.” or “You can skip the gym this one time.” You may want to reconsider how much time you spend with those people.

  5. Be passionate
  6. Be obsessed. I know dream killers like to say things like, “It isn’t healthy to be obsessed with anything.”  I say hogwash times ten. You want to reach that goal? Then act like it. Without passion you are just mediocre. Write down your goal, read your goal, talk about your goal, work towards your goal, eat, sleep, breathe your goal. It doesn’t matter if it’s a specific amount of fat loss, body fat percentage reduction, increased weight lifted in the gym, faster run times, or anything else. What matters is that you keep it in front of you at all times as a motivator. Which brings me to my next point…

  7. Have a strategy
  8. Have you ever taken a trip without a map? It’s no good. Make a plan and follow it. People who consistently achieve have a clear plan and strategy. They know what they need to do and when and how they need to do it.  Write your plan down and read it daily! Ask yourself before you do something, “Is what I am about to do going to get me closer to my goal?”  If the answer is no then don’t do it. Period. Doing things that take you further from your goal delays your success and chips away at your confidence.

  9. Have a vision
  10. Think about what your life will be like when you reach your goal. What will your life look like? FANTASIZE about that. Focus on that. Having this kind of vision keeps you motivated. See it, feel it, and experience it in your mind and heart so that your body will follow. You won’t get there if you don’t know what it looks like and feels like.

  11. Enjoy yourself
  12. Look, I get it. Sometimes life is tough. Sometimes you get frustrated. You aren’t the only one. I still experience those kinds of things. But don’t let the temporary negative feelings control your journey. Keto is freedom, and you should be living like you’re free, because you are. Don’t exchange one set of shackles for another. If calculating macros and tracking food is something that is causing you frustration and stress, then you’re doing it wrong. You have to find the keto way that works for you, because if you’re not enjoying the journey, you won’t get to the destination.

We attract into our lives what we believe in wholeheartedly, what we intensely desire, and what we most vividly envision and then we act on our enthusiasm.  IF you want results, believe you can get them and take action.

And don’t forget to enjoy the journey.
