Brent A. Reynolds, received his Ph.D. in 1994 from the University of Calgary. While he was doing his doctoral work, he and Sam Weiss discovered the existence of a stem cell in the adult central nervous system, challenging a century old dogma that the adult brain was unable to produce new neurons.
He went on to co-found NeuroSpheres Ltd., and in 1999 published the first report on the trans-differentiation of cells derived from one germ layer into functional cells of another germ layer.
But after many years of entrepreneurial burn out, he decided to pursue another track. So he turned to yoga and Chinese medicine. So he opened a yoga center in Thailand and a Chinese medicine practice in Canada. After doing that for years, he got back into the academic research world of stem cells. But when his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, he decided to make that the center of his focus.
Though she fought valiantly, she passed due to the cancer. But Dr. Reynolds continues to work to find methods and treatments, through supplementation, lifestyle, and the ketogenic diet, so, hopefully, in the future nobody will have to succumb to cancer.
