Dr. Susan Masino, Vernon Roosa Professor of Applied Science, decided at a young age that she wanted to be a brain scientist. As she grew up and began to study and learn more about the structure, function, and capacities of the brain, she became even more interested.
After receiving her PhD in Psychobiology from UC Irvine, she concentrated on testing the effects of adenosine on brain activity and vice versa. Her research has yielded some very interesting results, showing a possible link to adenosine and proper brain function. And, on top of that, her research shows there is a positive result in brain health when subjects are on a ketogenic diet.
Dr. Masino is really smart, really fun to talk to, and really passionate about her work. I had a great time talking to her, and I know you’re going to love listening to her.
