Choose to win, choose to lose

By Mary Roberts

You are born to succeed.

Yes, even you.

Even you who has struggled with weight and health issues.

It’s never too late to make changes. It is never too late to succeed.

What does success look like?

  • Joy
  • Feeling good about yourself
  • Having the awareness of your self-worth
  • Your ability to make the right choices

Keto success looks like loss of inflammation, reduced or eliminated pain, weight loss, hormonal adjustment, healing from disease, energy, and no more suffering from hunger.

How do we get success? It starts right between our ears. Those of you that follow me know I say this all the time, “Get your mind right.”  I say it as much for me as I do for you.  I have not arrived. I live on the battlefield of my mind every day. Every day I have to be on purpose with my thoughts and even though it “looks” like I have arrived to those of you who are just starting, trust me, I have not! I have people in my life who still, every week get an opportunity to set me straight.

It isn’t easy, this whole mind over matter thing. We have been one way our entire lives. We have taken the same paths over and over that it can be very hard to forge a new one. Visualize it like a rut/ditch – you walk back and forth, back and forth and it gets deeper and deeper and before you know it you need a ladder to climb out. It can be done though. New habits and pathways can be created.

Some people struggle with success because somewhere inside they don’t believe they deserve it, like they aren’t good enough to taste success.

Maybe you have made mistakes or have done things you think are bad and you are being punished. Who hasn’t made mistakes and who hasn’t thought we were being punished? Life happens to all of us. None of us do life perfectly, but that doesn’t mean we don’t deserve the success we so desperately want. Maybe you don’t make goals because if you don’t have a goal there is no guilt if you don’t achieve it. Does any of this sound familiar?

Stop looking at your weaknesses and past mistakes and start concentrating on your strengths and the things you want to achieve before you die. Stop looking backwards – you can’t go fast looking through the rear view mirror! (Unless you are Mr. Ketovangelist – am I right Mrs. Ketovangelist? You haven’t experienced life flash before your eyes until you are trapped in a car with Brian, while he drives reverse down his long driveway at 60 miles per hour.) [EDITORS NOTE: Brian is an amazing driver. Forward or backward.]

We succeed by being persistent and passionate. Even if we have people in our life who don’t understand or agree with what we are doing (maybe like I did, you have a track record of dieting/losing/gaining weight and have lost credibility), we just need to do what we have to do. Others don’t have to understand or agree, but WE have to not let them influence us. WE have to persist if we want to succeed.

Will there be times when you feel like you can’t do it, like you just don’t want to have the struggle? Yes, but you keep putting one foot in front of the other anyway! You eat the right food even when you’d rather have what everyone else at the table has. Even when you don’t feel like working out, you go anyway. Winners do it anyway and you want to win!

We have the choice to win or lose, to succeed or stay stuck.

What will you choose?

About Mary Roberts

Mary is a 44 year old married, mother of three who struggled with her weight and carbs/sugar addiction since the 7th grade.

After trying calorie counting, counting points, appetite suppressors and many other fad things over the years, she didn't find freedom until the Ketogenic way of life was introduced to her.

Over the span of 21 months she got rid of 105 pounds (260 to 155) and went from a size 20W to a size 4/6. Besides weight loss the benefits are numerous: She is med free and no more Type 2 Diabetes symptoms, no more sleep apnea, normal cholesterol, she sleeps better, breathes better, no longer has brain fog and she feels happier and healthier than she ever has.

Mary's life mission now is to help others discover the freedom and health that Keto can bring. She is passionate about inspiring and encouraging others to reach their goals.
