The mind is a powerful thing. It plays a huge part in any success we have, whether career, Keto, or whatever. If our mind isn’t right we are going to struggle.
I have said it probably a million times, the food part of Keto is easy; it has been for me. It’s pretty simple to me actually to know what I can and can’t eat, to know what is too much food, etc. Getting in tune with our bodies takes time and attention, but that eventually falls in to place, too.
When our desire for something persists, it is usually a good indication that we should go after that. Within reason of course (if you desire to rob a bank, don’t go for that). But if you desire to get well and reclaim your health, go for that.
The not so easy part is re-directing our thoughts and re-training our brain. When we are so used to negative and defeatist thoughts (maybe we have been verbally abused by others), it is hard to change. It can be done, though. We have the power to change our world when we change our minds.
Reject feedback and comments that don’t align with your new life track. A winner knows the power of words. So refuse to speak words of defeat and discouragement. Express your hopes, dreams, desires with a positive attitude.
How to change your mind:
- Doubt your doubts
- Never allow what others says about you/to you to change your opinion of yourself
- Know the power of thoughts and words
- Feed your brain the right words, thoughts and images
- Associate with like minded people as much as possible
- View carbs/sugar as the toxins they are
Doubt can be deadly, so only envision your success. You will never succeed unless you really believe you can. If you don’t really believe, that doubt will eventually surface. Plan to succeed and you will.
You know you better than anyone. What you believe about yourself matters more than what anyone else believes. Stay focused. Don’t waste time or energy entertaining the negative thoughts and ideas of other people.
Your thoughts and words matter. If you think about cheesecake and candy bars eventually you are going to cave. So, don’t think on those things. Remind yourself that those things have done you no favors. They are not your friend. Say it, believe it, and know it.
Have you ever heard the phrase, “garbage in, garbage out?” Start your day with inspirational thoughts, motivating messages, and images. One thing I do, every day, is go on Pinterest and look at and read all the things I have pinned that inspire and motivate me.
Like the wonderful Keto peeps on our Facebook group Ketogenic Success. We need people. We need to surround ourselves with those who have done what we want to do, who are going through similar struggles and overcoming them, learn from the path others have taken and just have fellowship that makes our resolve stronger.
Do not lovingly reminisce about French bread or chocolate cake. Tell yourself when you pass by them at the grocery store, “That is poison. That will kill me. I am allergic to that,” and eventually that will be ingrained in your brain and, pretty soon, you will just know it; and the thought of putting any of that in your mouth will never occur to you.
Remember: Words and thoughts have power. Identify and associate with quality people who have what you want. This is one of the great secrets of success. Set up a “success climate” that you can be a part of when you escape the carb environments you are no doubt faced with daily at work, at home, on tv, and on the road. Have people and resources you access regularly to keep your mind right.
Failure starts with the mind. Fortunately, so does success. You can choose which one you focus on.
I would choose success.
